NEW LIFE TO SALVADOR – ZYGOMATIC IMPLANTS

Salavdor is a patient who visited us from Montijo presenting an extreme case that shows how far our maxillary bones can go in terms of resorption / loss.
These patients in addition to not presenting bone in quality, sometimes even add the fact that the bone is in minimal quantity.

In these situations, we cannot use conventional implants, but other implants, or much smaller than usual, or much longer as are the case of Zygomatic Implants.

The name of Zygomatic Implants comes from the fact that the implants in its upper part are not fixed in the upper jaw because the patients no longer have this bone in quantity and quality sufficient for a good anchorage, but in the zygomatic bone.

It is a procedure always carried out in General Anesthesia.

In the present case, Zygomatic implants and shorty’s implants, which have this nickname because they are shorter than conventional implants, although they are wider.

This surgery was performed by Dr. Luis Pinheiro and Dr. Fernando Duarte, fellows of training in surgery at SIN-implants system.
