Invisible Aligners

When we want to straighten our teeth, we can choose between two orthodontic treatment options: invisible aligners (Esthetic Aligner) or conventional braces.

Although both are designed to provide a straight smile, the way they work is very different. The decision between invisible aligners (Esthetic Aligner) and conventional braces requires a visit to the orthodontist and may depend on certain factors, such as age and the level of correction needed.

There are several pros and cons to both invisible aligners and conventional braces, and choosing one over the other often comes down to what each individual feels most comfortable with.

What you need to know

Esthetic Aligner is a specific brand of removable clear aligners, customized and designed to gradually straighten a person’s teeth.

Utilização de Esthetic Aligner

When worn, Esthetic Aligner aligners apply continuous pressure to the teeth, gradually resorbing and rebuilding the bone in the direction of the pressure.

To begin the process, the patient must consult an Esthetic Aligner specialist to obtain an accurate 3D scan of their teeth, which will be used to create a personalized treatment plan.

Esthetic Aligner typically uses small attachments (bonded to certain teeth) called accessories.

Although the attachments are made of tooth-colored resin bonded to the teeth, the aligners remain removable. The aligners gradually move the teeth with each aligner change until the desired smile is achieved.

The number of aligner changes required depends on the complexity of each case. Aligners are worn for 20 to 22 hours per day but are removable and should be taken out whenever eating or drinking.

Each set of aligners is typically worn for one to two weeks before being replaced with a new set. New aligner sets may feel slightly uncomfortable during the first few days of use, as controlled pressure is applied to move the teeth.

Invisalign doesn’t use traditional brackets and wires like conventional braces, and the set is “virtually invisible,” according to the company.

The aligners are made of a soft, flexible patented plastic called SmartTrack. The Esthetic Aligner treatment plan includes an evaluation with an Esthetic Aligner doctor, who creates a personalized treatment plan to correct your smile.

The cost of Esthetic Aligner can range from €2,800 to €5,600, and the price depends on the severity of the person’s dental condition and the final goal.

Prós & Contras

It is “invisible,” making it more aesthetically pleasing.

It facilitates proper care of the teeth and gums, as the aligners can be removed, leading to less plaque buildup.

Designed to be gentler and more comfortable.

The aligners must be cleaned and cared for properly.

It requires a certain level of patient compliance.

It is not suitable for correcting complicated orthodontic issues, such as impacted teeth.

It can be easy to lose or misplace the aligners.

Esthetic Aligner vs. Braces: Which is better?

Trying to decide between Esthetic Aligner and traditional braces can be a difficult and usually personal decision. In my opinion, the treatment that allows patients to enjoy the experience and motivates them the most is the best choice.

There is no treatment option that is inherently “better” for all patients.

Esthetic Aligner has evolved as a treatment option that can address the vast majority of smile and bite issues, and it continues to be an excellent solution for patients who desire aesthetics, comfort, and can handle the responsibility.

Traditional braces have been used for over 100 years and are certainly a tested and proven solution, even for the most complicated malocclusions.
